[Detroit]: [circa 1970]. Printed postcard (4.5'' by 7.5''). Green and red printing on yellow cardstock. Minimal wear; near fine. (Item ID: 22770)

Postcard pre-addressed to former Michigan Governor William Milliken, urging him to free John Sinclair from prison. Sentenced to 9 1/2 to 10 years for his 1969 marijuana possession conviction, Sinclair would ultimately be freed in 1971 following sustained campaigning for reform of marijuana laws. Postcard text reads, in part: "I do not believe that the interests of fair and human justice are to be served by the continued imprisonment of John Sinclair, and I therefore urge you very strongly to commute the remainder of his sentence."
