Park Ridge / Highland Park, IL: Ancient Astronaut Society, 1974-1998. First Edition. 4to. Majority of issues comprised of a single sheet folded to make [4] pp. Conditions range from very good to near fine, with many showing moderate toning and folding. Also includes two indexes for Vols. 1 through 16, plus various promotional materials, and a pamphlet introducing the A.A.S. published in 1998. (Item ID: 21642)

Remarkable set of newsletters from this society for the study of ancient aliens, founded in 1975 by Gene Philips (b. 1926), a corporate attorney with degrees from Harvard, Virginia Tech, and Northwestern. In a pamphlet introducing the organization in 1998, Philips summarizes the mission of the AAS as a "search for the evidence which will prove that civilization, technology and intelligence originated in outer space." The AAS was an international organization; the 1998 pamphlet prints a long list of members throughout the world, including many in Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Eastern Europe, and Mexico, among other locations, a large percentage of whom are listed as having PhDs in engineering, astronomy, and physics. ANCIENT SKIES consists largely of contributions from Phillips and these AAS members, all of whom in various ways posit alien involvement in ancient civilizations, especially the Maya, the Aztecs, and the Egyptians.
