San Francisco: The Book Club of California, 1956. Limited ed. 4to. Quarter brown cloth over patterned boards in plain dust jacket. Near fine in the original plain unprinted brown paper jacket. Letter from the publisher laid in, along with receipt for original subscription purchase. Pages faintly toned. Else clean and sharp. 46pp. (Item ID: 21457)

From an edition of 350 copies, printed letterpress from French Elzevir type with five woodcuts by Mallette Dean. The text is a lecture given by Jeffers at the Library of Congress, Harvard, and several other locations in 1941. According to the publisher, "never before [had] there appeared in book form any prose by Robinson Jeffers other than an occasional brief preface to his volumes of verse." A lovely edition.
