Ten vouchers resembling money stapled in, each intended to represent "one dollar [and] one brick" towards the Center, with a brief note and quote from Davis printed inside the wrapper. Very good, with mild toning to one edge and front cover lightly creased. (Item ID: 21414)

Fundraising campaign for this Harlem-based communist bookstore and community center, named after the African-American politician and lawyer Ben Davis (1903-1964), a onetime member of the New York City Council and part of the Communst Party USA. "Every brick you buy provides the new Harlem Ben Davis Bookshop and Center with books, pamphlets and periodicals of struggle and socialism. Help build a center to carry on the ideals and understanding of Ben Davis." OCLC does not locate any examples.
