London: Printed by Luke Hansard, 1806. First edition thus. 16mo. Original marbled boards with early 20th. century sympathetic rebacking. Solidly very good overall. All three vols. show moderate rubbing to boards, small corner dents and edgewear. First volume has lengthy penciled notations to two preliminary blanks. All have light foxing to endpapers and prelims, but majority of text blocks clean, if a shade foxed here and there. A handsme set. 408pp. (Vol. I); 353pp. (Vol. 2); 337pp. (Vol. 3). (Item ID: 21220)

Johnson's biographical notes and critical remarks on 52 poets, first issued from 1779 to 1781. Scarce thus. One copy found in OCLC, at the British Library (and only Vol. 2). A lovely set indeed.
