Flyer printing a 1977 schedule for Doug Lang's influential bi-weekly reading series at Folio Books (at the location of today's Second Story Books). Lang, who managed the shop, hosted the series from Jan. 1976 to June 1978 and booked a variety of poets from DC, Maryland, and Baltimore: Terence Winch, Michael Lally, Diane Ward, P. Inman, Chris Mason, Kirby Malone, Anselm Hollo, Phyllis Rosenzweig, and more. Additionally notworthy for this year were appearances by prominent out-of-towners John Ashbery, Susan Howe, and Bruce Andrews. This copy features a quote from Maureen Owen at the top: "I'd just like to say Poetry is the breath of life. I know that's been said before, but I'd just like to say it again."
