WWII history by the noted U.S. military historian, later adapted into the HBO miniseries of the same name. According to an April 21, 2002 article in the Washington Post, Ambrose had been in Bosnia the previous Thanksgiving, visiting the National Guard's 29th Infantry Division; this copy was likely inscribed on that trip.
