[Transvestism]: [Photography]

Price: $125.00

[ca. 2000s / 2010s]. Seven drugstore-printed photos (on Kodak Extralife paper). In fine condition. (Item ID: 19889)

A striking and intimate collection of images depicting a heavily tattooed man, likely in his early 60s, posing in his own kitchen and wearing four different outfits of women's clothes. The presence of a dangling cigarette in his mouth, along with a certain off-kilter demeanor, suggest the influence of drink or other drugs; one photo shows a Keystone Light on the table. Yet the variety of outfits ñ and presence of a wig ñ seem to indicate that crossdressing is an established pursuit of his. Taken by a friend, the photos are indeed quite candid, and their style evokes Terry Richardson's work more than anything else, though they could also be placed on a continuum with Diane Arbus' transvestite photographs. Per the photos' former owner, the subject is a Vietnam veteran.
