An attractive example of Theodor Geisel's work as a commercial artist, predating his carreer as a children's book author. This puzzle, one of many notable advertising designs Geisel produced as a part of his longstanding contract with Standard Oil, is a scene showing Essolube defeating the five "Moto Monsters," a cast of characters symbolizing the perils of using poor quality motor oil. Signed Dr. Seuss, the puzzle shows elements of the illustrator's style that would later become key components in the the author's iconic childrens books.
