New York: New York Express, 1966. First Edition. 4to. Saddle-stapled in publisher's wraps. Small spots of soil at front wrap. Touches of rubbing at rear. Very minor toning throughout. Interior clean. Very good. (Item ID: 16702)

THE BLOWN MIND is presented in three parts, one by each individual artist and the middle section a collaborative effort. Along with the preceding work GROPE, a collaboration between the two artists and Peter Forakis, THE BLOWN MIND is among the earliest comics weíve seen to exhibit a non-commercial, ìundergroundî aesthetic (albeit mixed with a fine art influence). While more reserved than the over-the-top counterculture aesthetics associated with underground comix, THE BLOWN MIND clearly exhibits a prescient style that would soon come to fuller fruition in the work of R. Crumb and others.
