Palmistry and chiromancy enjoyed a popular resurance during the uncertain and tumultuous years of the Depression and outbreak of the War. And Wolff was one of its most respected proponents, taking a decidedly scientific approach to a decidedly questionable pastime. She subsequently went on to write several important works on homosexuality and she remains an important figure in gay history. Included here are 24 photogrpahic plates of palms with captions like: "Hand of a Female Idiot"; "Hand of a Neurotic Young Man"; "Hand of a Paranoid Schizophrenic"; etc... Uncommon.
