INSCRIBED BY COLLABORATOR to second endpaper: "To the first o' them M'Guire / girls what marries a man / that smokes 'em. / H Happy New Year! / Carl Werner / Jan 1/'07." Slight rubbing to edges, lower spine. Otherwise sound, clean. (Item ID: 15223)

A gushing treatise on cigarettes. With a brief history of tobacco cultivation, production, consumption, and portrayal. WIth humorous anectodes and poetry throughout. Warmly inscribed by Carl Werner a named collaborator on the text with author John Bain, Jr. Werner and Bain, together, operated New York's Tobacoo Leaf Publishing Company. 190pp.
