Newark, NJ: Adams Press Corp., [1968]. First Edition. 8vo. Printed stapled wraps. Mild toning. Occasional marginalia. Overall clean, well preserved. With 2-TL and mailing card laid in. (Item ID: 15140)

An original printed appellant brief booklet submitted by attorney Anthony G. Amsterdam. Accompanied by a typed draft of a brief amici curiae, a typed letter soliciting signatories for said brief, and an original return mailer related to the 1968 Arthur Kinoy v. District of Columbia case before the U.S. Court of Appeals. Kinoy was a prominent civil rights era social justice attorney, Rutgers law professor, and co-founder of the Center for Constitutional Rights. This appeal relates to a 1966 charge for disorderly conduct in D.C. court, relating to his defense of student anti-war leaders brought to testify before the House Committee on Un-American Activities. The acting chairman of the committe ordered him arrested for attempting to argue a point of law with its members, having him forcibly removed. He was convicted though the ruling was overturned on this appeal. Kinoy worked closely with the ACLU and was council to the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society). A scarce collection of documents on a profoundly important radical attorney and practice of law during the revolutionary 1960's. 80pp.
