(Chicago): (1944). Oblong red gilt leather string-tied 4to. photo album, 7.25" x 11.25" approx. With 47 5" x 7" B&W photographs mounted recto and verso to 25 leaves, plus several pieces of related scrap. Album good only with extremities heavily worn and leather separating from top board. But contents entirely sound and easily very good or better. (Item ID: 14198)

Commemorative photo album specially assembled for retiring executive Arthur Hatch (with his name gilt to front cover). The album chronicles the December 14, 1944 retirement party held for Hatch (who was the area manager of the Ford auto dealers Chicago branch) at the Morrison Hotel, Chicago. The event also welcomed W.K Edmunds as his replacement, with the dinner menu and program brochure mounted to the interior. Several photographs showing attendee Henry Ford II. Other images include various attendees posing with Ford engines, a complete dealer parts counter recreated in-situ (top right), plus hardware displays, and the evening's entertainments, which included acrobats and an erotic dancer (top left). A particularly striking pair of photos, in a brash display of period corporate male chauvinism, show an unnamed man holding a shotgun opposite the aforementioned topless female dancer. Also present are images of toasts and other apparent burlesques, posed group shots, images of diners and attendees, etc. A frank auto industry memento.
